Amy Litton, FHBP Board member led the Upper Newport Bay tour via Zoom. She immersed us in upland habitat with vistas that include mudflats, dozens of channels, an island for birds, and one of the main freshwater sources for this vital estuary. Participants learned about beaks, feet, wings, and habitats these marsh birds rely on. In the presentation, she also relayed the story of how an unusual series of events and the efforts of a dedicated few helped preserve this unique area.
