Snowy Plover Nests Destroyed by State Parks

It is sad to see another conflict emerge because of recreational use and habitat for the endangered Western Snowy Plover. In this instance, with COVID, the Oceano Dunes were shutdown–allowing enough time for the endangered coastal bird to nest on the dunes. Shortly there after, State Park staff began destroying nests to make room for the off-roaders to use the dunes for fun again. Apparently, the nesting location is “unfavorable.”
