The Resource Management Plans for each of the seven preserves in the OCTA Mitigation Program identified trails for emergency access, managed access (through guided hikes/rides), and which to decommission due to habitat impacts. This article focuses on the Laguna Beach preserve (Pacific Horizon) and an upcoming decision to decommission unsafe, duplicative, and resource impacting trails. Public access still remains. (Note: One quote isn’t quite right, not all Preserve trails are decommissioned, but all trails were evaluated.)
