We are thrilled to announce the California Joshua Tree is one step closer to formal protection in the Golden State. All of our habitats provide important refuge for our wildlife species. An impact to one area has a ripple effect elsewhere–that’s why conservation of many landscapes is so important. The western Joshua trees have faced many troubles including vandalism, drought, and wildfires. The California Fish and Game Commission will hear the petition in June and decide to accept/reject the petition for listing this plant species as threatened or endangered. Many thanks to the Center for Biological Diversity for its tireless work getting the listing this far.
