On Wednesday, Friends of Harbors, Beaches & Parks (FHBP) Consultant Melanie Schlotterbeck gave a presentation on the OCTA Environmental Mitigation Program. This program takes a comprehensive approach to mitigating impacts to natural lands from voter-approved freeway projects. Instead of a piecemeal approach to the budget and the impacts, it is the big picture–the entire freeway budget and all of the impacts from 13 different freeway projects are looked at in their entirety.
