Here is an interesting article on the four things we (globally) need to do to prevent this type of massive pandemic from happening again. In short, (1) have the stockpile of masks, respirators, and medical equipment AT THE READY, (2) have the testing infrastructure READY, (3) immediately STOP the global wildlife trade, and (4) take care of nature. On that note, if our animals have enough habitat to live in, diseases are less likely to transmit them to people.
