Voter Rights Questioned in Tentative Ruling

with No Comments

A San Diego Court judge has tentatively ruled that the right to referend a housing development decision is no longer viable due to the need for housing. This tool has been used by residents throughout the state to overturn a variety of decisions made at the local and regional level. In this case, two-thirds of Oceanside residents voted to support the referendum and stop the project as proposed. A final ruling is expected later this week. This decision could set a terrible precedent for voter rights.
