Governor Newsom said, “As Californians, respect and reverence for our beaches is in our DNA, so much so that we enshrined public beach access into our state constitution.”
This quote was prompted after signing a bill authored by State Assemblymember Monique Limon. Assembly Bill 1680 is signed into law and opens the Hollister Ranch for the public access in Santa Barbara County. After a near 40 year battle to keep theses beaches private by local landowners, the State Legislature and Governor stepped in to resolve it.
