Wildfire Treatment Areas Include Prized Parks

Friends of Harbors, Beaches & Parks (FHBP) is a co-petitioner in a lawsuit against CalFire because of its “Vegetation Treatment Plan” which would remove hundreds of thousands of acres of habitat in our natural areas (both protected and private) under the guise of fire prevention. To gain a better understanding of what areas might be impacted by this plan, check out the map link below. It shows the “treatment” areas proposed for vegetation removal throughout California.

In our neck of the woods it includes places like: Crystal Cove State Park, Chino Hills State Park, the Irvine Ranch Lands, Whiting and Limestone Regional Parks, and many many more. This is unacceptable and proves exactly why we signed on to this lawsuit. Vegetation clearing will not help in a wind-driven fire. Full stop.
